Round 4 of the championships brought mixed fortunes for our two teams. Our first team put in a fine performance against group leaders St Maurs in JHC B at Islandbridge on Tuesday evening 4th Jun in a close game that saw us lead into the late stages but we were punished for conceding too many second half frees and we lost by a point, the same outcome as with our previous championship tie at Erins Isle.

Our second team, however, won their second game to date in JHC E on Thursday defeating Na Gael Oga by a 4 point margin giving us a great chance to proceed to the knock-out stages. It seems the lure of fine weather outside Dublin or maybe the Munster Championship was a more attractive proposition for many of our first team who were unavailable to play on Sunday morning in AHL6, when we hosted neighbours St Brendan’s in Islandbridge.

Playing 13-a-side on a fast hot pitch we put up a decent fight and the game was level midway through the second half but we ran out of steam and were beaten by 1-19 to 4-5.

Back to training this week on Monday and Wednesday at 7pm in Islandbridge in preparation for the final qualifying rounds of the championship next week. The Committee is to meet after training on Wednesday 12th at 8.30pm.

Remember a date for your diary is the upcoming fundraising “night at the dogs” in Shelbourne Park on Thursday 11th July. Tickets are on sale. More information about that in the coming weeks.
