Its been a while since these notes reported 3 games in one week without defeat. On Tues 18th June we finally registered a victory in JHC ‘B’ vs Naomh Fionnbarra. After losing our previous two games by a single point, the team showed great determination and with a tight defence won by 1-10 to 0-11.
Our second team played Setanta in JHC ‘E’ on Thurs in Ballymun, always a tough venue and not very successful for us in recent years. But this time we drew and we were unlucky not to win with the home side securing the draw from a free in the closing minutes.
Then on Sunday, on a windswept Dolphin Park our first team defeated St Kevins in AHL6. We held a 5 point lead with the aid of the breeze in the first half and, although Kevins had eliminated that advantage midway through the second half, we tightened our defence and secured some precious scores to win by a 4 point margin.
Lets hope we can keep up this momentum in our first team. Our AHL 8 fixture v Oliver Plunketts was postponed to Monday 24th June.
Training again this week at 7pm on the pitch on Wednesday.
Remember a date for your diary is the upcoming “night at the dogs” in Shelbourne Park on Thursday 11th July. This year our fundraising effort will be a joint venture to benefit both our club and development aid in Africa. More details to follow next week. Tickets are on sale.
